This exciting collaboration marks Bomsori's recording debut, in which the fiendish virtuosity of Wieniawski’s Romantic Violin Concerto No. 2
is coupled with Shostakovich’s searingly intense Violin Concerto No. 1
in A Minor.
Although nearly 100 years apart, both concertos presented on this album had their premieres in Saint Petersburg. Saint Petersburg is also the city in which Henryk Wieniawski held the post of soloist at the Tsar’s court, as well as the birthplace of Dmitri Shostakovich and where he spent most of his life.
